I got involved with the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House because some of my friends were involved with the house. Also, I learned more about Peggy Albrecht Friendly House when I was helping my sister seek recovery. I have a close and special relationship with our Board Chair Peggy which is a major reason for my affiliation with Peggy Albrecht Friendly House. I am also passionate towards helping woman reach recovery. Now that I know more about Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, I continue to strongly support the house. I believe that women in need should have a safe place to go. Peggy Albrecht Friendly House is a great model and I would like the house to expand to more locations to help women in need. As a sober woman with over 21 years of sobriety I feel it is my responsibility to give back to the community. The first chip is given after a person has remained sober for twenty-four hours, this is the silver chip. Though the exact colors of the chips may vary depending on the specific type of twelve-step program, the time increments will remain the same.
Whether you received support from your spouse, children, parents, therapist, or someone else you met during treatment, this is also a day to celebrate them. Recovery takes hard work and dedication, day-in and day-out. Whether you’re in a 12-step fellowship or non-secular recovery , recovery is a process of continuous change and effort to improve our health Sober House and well-being. That process can be incredibly painful and challenging as we sift through our darkest moments and change the ways we respond to our traumas and stressors. Once an individual has left any addiction recovery program, the goal is to remain sober, yet stay aware of the heavy risks that exist regarding relapse back into substance abuse. While admitting to an addiction, conquering detox and rebuilding through flexible treatment are all incredible achievements, staying sober is also quite an accomplishment. Once a person has achieved one year of sobriety from alcohol and or drugs, it is a landmark achievement. This can be done at a restaurant or park or home environment.
